This roadster is a special version of the BMW 3/15 DA-2, built in 1930-1931 and fitted with a special body from Ihle in Bruchsal. This special BMW/Dixi was the first model to have the kidney shaped grills - now a BMW tradition. While these models are called "Dixi", the name is really that of the company that BMW took over in 1928 to enter the automobile business. The Dixi-Werke were successfully producing a version of the Austin 7 - which was rebadged as a BMW when they took over. Despite the name change, these vehicles will always be known as a "Dixi". It's interesting to note that BMW now owns the Austin name after acquiring Rover.
